The group of recombinant proteins and peptides is the part of the laboratory of biotechnology.
The main scientific activities of research group:
1. Development of peptide medical substances on the basis of self-cleaving hybrid proteins (glucagon, oxyntomodulin, exendin-4, hEGF).
2. Development of novel structures of hybrid proteins, capable of self-cleavage with the formation of modified peptides and evaluation of the prospects of their use in biotechnology (calcitonin, etc).
3. Development of methods for extraction and purification of proteins for medical use (interferon α 2b, interleukin-3, ESAT6, human thymosin α1).
4. Development of methods for isolation and purification of enzymes produced by pathogenic microorganisms and viruses; testing the capacity of different compounds to inhibit the enzymes.
5. Obtaining of recombinant enzymes of nucleic acids metabolism, enzymes for protein engineering (TEV-protease) and other enzymes for molecular biology.
The whole work cycle of genetic engineering is realized in our group, including the choice of the cloning strategy and the way of chemico-enzymatic synthesis of individual gene with subsequent target protein extraction and purification. Development of target product activity tests is also possible. We can subclone any gene into any vector plasmid for your choice. Processes of expression and fermentation can be optimized for different system volumes (from 250 ml to 250 l). We can standardize protocols of purification of the target protein (the total amount of target protein can be from 1 mg to 1 g).
